Commissioned work and case studies
Le Vincent De Fresco - By: Brian Luparell

This beautiful piece of history towers at
119 tall, 37 wide in the middle, with a base of 39 square. It was
all hand made using raw steel, stainless steel and fused glass. It was
meant to weather the elements but would make an amazing piece inside as
well. This project started as a prototype that I designed in earlier
years, it took about 4-5 months to actually complete. It has a great
combination of organic form and positive structure. I wanted this piece
to portray a positive message. The stained glass piece represents that
positive hope, You should always look forward to good things in the
future. With that in mind the next task was to name my piece.
Usually, by during construction of a piece that name will come to me.
However, with the message I wanted this piece to portray something else
kept entering my mind. I have a nephew, Vincent, in the Army National
Guard serving in Iraq. He and all of our troops endure an enormous
amount of pressures physically and emotionally. I kept thinking that
maybe showing him the sculpture might give him a reprieve, if only for a
short while, so I sent him a picture and meaning of it and asked him to
name it. His reply was that he was honored and that it should be named
something Fresco, meaning out in the open. Since the piece is meant to
withstand the elements and its to portray looking for good things in
the future, all things my nephew and our troops do, I decided to name it
Le Vincent De Fresco.
Glass Work on Le Vincent De Fresco
By: Ed Martin
Edward Martin is an award winning artist who has spent over 20 years
developing his craft, and is part of the exciting "Outsider Art"
movement, completely self taught, without outside influences on his
work. Working in his fully functional glass studio and complete wood
working shop at his home in Springfield Illinois, he has perfected the
art of beveling, fusing, three dimensional etching and glass staining as
well as traditional glasswork. A need for frames led him on a journey in
woodworking that turned into a love for the amazing color and grains of
woods from all over the world. Ed Martin solely designs all work and no
pieces are ever duplicated. Much of his works are created for private
commission contracts. Around 1995, he decided to start breaking away
from the traditional realism in his design work and let his mind venture
into new territory. The objective was to combine all facets of his
abilities to create a totally new set of works like no other he had
seen. This has resulted in the creation of a wide range of work from
glass sinks, architectural pieces, fused windows to furniture. Ed Martin
has shown his work form Los Angeles to New York and his work is
collected by people from all over the country.
